Hi Dan, I just ordered my copy of RNRL from cdzone.co.uk. A good store for rare stuff. I see it was probably you that also ordered the Superman is Back maxi-single. What do you get on top of the RNRL album track? I am glad you like Montreal, people either love it or hate it. I love it of course. The restaurant I mentioned is Modavi by the way. Will hunt around for some Deaf School then. Julian

You guys sound like you know your stuff. I just got hold of Hans' Commercial Break CD (which I love by the way !)
With regards to the lyrics printed, why no lyrics under the song title, Purrfect Girl ?
Anyone know the reason ?
Also looking for lyrics to Meike's Tutti Frutti album. Any leads on that one ?
Cheers.
Robert.

Hi Robert, That is strange. I have a very nice 16 page booklet with my copy of Commercial Break, which has the lyrics to all the songs including Purrfect Girl. It is on the Van Record Company Label No. 74321 239342. Made in Holland. On the spine it says Focus and another No. 307.2180.2. Distributed by Rough Trade, Herne, Germany on the back cover and a Bar Code: 4 015307 218023. What do you have? I would imagine being a small independent label, there was only the one limited printing. Good luck trying to track down a copy of "Shake Hands with Vandenburg", which I'm sure will be next on your list. Probably one of the rarest and most elusive Cd's of all time. I looked on the internet for years with no luck, some people have even questioned whether it actually exists. i now know it does or did as I now have a very nice CDR copy from a fellow Gruppo fan (purely for personal use only). Does anybody know how many were made, as I still am looking to buy an original copy copy? I have yet to buy a vinyl copy of Tutti Frutti by Miek Touw. Is it any good? Very Gruppo style I presume? I wonder if it was originally issued with a lyric sheet insert? Can anybody out there (in the jungle) tell us? Cheers, Julian

Hi Julian; yeah got the original CD with the colour booklet. The offending page is yellow with four titles. Three have lyrics (This Guy's Crazy, She Wants To Kill, Box 27), but for Purrfect Girl all there is the title with a blank space beneath. Strange...maybe a printing glitch. Also no lyrics for Zwaar K*t...which is probably just as well ! My folks are from the Netherlands .. and I know what that means ! LOL
Still looking for Shake Hands with Vandenburg. I read somewhere it's a compilation album with only a 1 or 2 Hans songs on it. Is that true or false ?
Tutti Frutti is very Gruppo sounding. Peter's on keys, Max on drums and some more of the Gruppo regulars participate. The songs are as catchy as hell ! Like your SHWV, my Tutti Frutti is a CD-R.
Good conversing with ya, mate.
Later,
Robert.

hi guys, meike's record is indeed very gruppo-esque, with real bits of blondie and jazzhole-y sounds too. it is a lovely little record, clocking in at about half an hour.
I had the SHWV graphics up at my old site, but i haven't posted them at the new one. if anyone wants i can send them a scan of the cover (the painting on the cover hangs proudly in Hans' office, by the way). The first nine tracks are all new, with one dan hicks cover. and then there is a slew of older stuff from a number of side projects (including one from the late 60s by "hobbyhorse"--and i am lucky enough to own a collection of hobbyhorse demos). it closes with a little vocal from hans' son hank. the songs, in general, are not among hans' best!
